You help realise the delivery of the ABN AMRO strategy: a Personal Bank in a Digital Age. You ensure that the entire bank follows the correct route towards a fully data driven organisation. From shaping new concepts to designing and guiding data management initiatives. You are able to quickly submerge yourself in a brand-new initiative, shape, socialise and ensure it is properly anchored for successful execution.
Your job
As Data Governance & Control Expert, your job is to set up and continuously improve the Data Performance & Control Management framework to create insights in and steer towards data and business objectives. The framework enables the organisation to get insights in the Data Execution by pinpointing the right levers and thereby investments to further accelerate. In doing so, you bring the mentality to the organisation: “what gets measured gets done!”.
The results you contribute to:
- Operationalise the current Data Performance & Control Management framework across the bank – to enable group-wide steering up to Executive Board and Supervisory Board level;
- Get the organisation equipped to make use of the performance framework to drive informed decision making;
- Deliver an improved performance framework for 2025 (i.e., topical set of data KPIs to steer on) in alignment with Data Strategy objectives and external developments.
Furthermore, you are an active contributor to the overall team responsibilities:
- Designing and driving processes to formalise data management artifacts such as standards and guidelines;
- Providing expert guidance and support in adopting data management artefacts;
- Controlling adherence to the data management artefacts;
- Running the corporate governance Data Committee;
- Driving awareness of data governance.
This role requires switching context quickly, being action oriented while having strong conceptual capabilities with an understanding of data governance and management, risk management and foremost you are able to inspire stakeholders to take action.
Working environment
You operate in the following organisation:
- You are part of the Central Data Office – Data Governance – Governance & Control department
- You interact with other department in the Central Data Office to align on performance reporting
- You interact with Data Domains to implement the Data Performance Management framework
- You interact with stakeholders throughout the bank to strengthen alignment with bank-wide (performance) initiatives (like Objective Key Results framework, Key Risk Indicator steering elements, remuneration structure)

Your profile
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Data Management, Data Governance, or a related field preferred (like Risk Management)
- Result-oriented
- Data-driven mentality and experience
- Experience in driving KPI definitions & target setting processes
- Experience in data governance, data management, or related roles (you are familiar with DAMA DMBOK, Data Mesh, BCBS239, etc.)
- Understanding of the way of working with 3 lines of defense
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders across departments and disciplines
- Affinity with dashboards
