Compliance Manager
What is the role about?
Our Compliance department consists of a Financial Crime team (and Quality Checkers), as well as Compliance (2LoD) team. Together with the Head of Compliance, you will be responsible for the creation of the compliance strategy and tracking the execution. A big focus point for the coming years will be the roll-out of MiCA, the comprehensive regulatory framework for Crypto Asset Service Providers such as Bitvavo, which is due at the end of 2024.
You will assist the Head of Compliance and maintain an overview of projects and deliverables, and take ownership of the execution within the teams and across the organisation. You provide compliance advice and independent challenge to key stakeholders within the business and proactively share your knowledge and experience on compliance-related topics with 2nd line compliance team, other departments, and stakeholders involved in Bitvavo’s operations.

- You manage, coach, and mentor your compliance (2LoD) team
- You support our international growth ambitions and keep track of local requirements
- You assist the Head of Compliance new and upcoming regulations and drive awareness and implementation efforts and share your knowledge proactively
- You manage internal stakeholders to drive compliance awareness and adoption
- Provide compliance advice and challenge to the business as required
- Manage/oversee compliance monitoring and testing processes?
- You manage external interactions with a.o. peers, regulators, auditors, working groups, and vendors
- You will assist the Head of Compliance in preparing and holding the compliance committee
- You drive periodic and ad-hoc reporting on the compliance 2nd line function
- You assist the Head of compliance in strategic planning and managing particular assessments requested
How will you be successful?
- 10+ years of relevant experience in 2nd line of defence compliance in a fast-paced, dynamic FinTech, broker, exchange, or other financial institution
- Experience in regulatory compliance impact assessment, compliance monitoring and testing processes
- Demonstrated managerial experience (ideally leading/managing a Compliance team)
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, both internally and externally, and both upstream and downstream
- Organised, flexible, and detail-oriented
- Sound knowledge of the regulatory environment, both current and future (ideally Crypto (MICA), (MIFID), Payment services ( EMI/PSD) and/or tradefi)
- Proven involvement in regulatory change processes and business advisory, with strong business acumen and ability to solve problems pragmatically
- Fluency in Dutch is preferable
